Thank you for participating in our study at NEMO Science Museum during Museumnacht. We'd like to share more about the study's purpose with you.

We wanted to test whether people react differently to music based on whether they think it's composed by Artificial Intelligence or by humans. Everyone listened to the same music track: a classical piece composed by an Artificial Intelligence software called ‘AIVA’ and performed by the Sofia Symphonic Orchestra. We randomly divided participants into two groups: one group was only told that the music was by Artificial Intelligence, and the other was only told that it was by the Sofia Symphonic Orchestra.

Subsequently, we asked all participants the same questions to gauge how much they appreciated the piece and which emotions they felt. You might be curious about the heart rate and skin moisture monitoring. These measures help us capture subtle, automatic emotional reactions. We also noted alcohol levels, as they can influence these bodily responses.

Ultimately, our aim is to compare the reactions of both groups to find out if beliefs about the music's origin influence people’s emotional experience. Bedankt voor je deelname aan ons onderzoek in NEMO Science Museum tijdens Museumnacht. We willen je graag meer vertellen over het doel van het onderzoek. 

We wilden testen of mensen verschillend reageren op muziek, afhankelijk van of ze denken dat de muziek is gecomponeerd door Artificiële Intelligentie of door mensen. Iedereen luisterde naar hetzelfde muziekstuk: een klassiek stuk gecomponeerd door een Artificiële Intelligentiesoftware genaamd 'AIVA' en uitgevoerd door het Sofia Symfonisch Orkest. We verdeelden de deelnemers willekeurig in twee groepen: de ene groep kreeg alleen te horen dat de muziek van Artificiële Intelligentie was en de andere groep kreeg alleen te horen dat het van het Sofia Symfonisch Orkest was.

Vervolgens stelden we alle deelnemers dezelfde vragen om te peilen hoezeer ze het stuk waardeerden en welke emoties ze voelden. Je bent misschien nieuwsgierig naar de hartslag- en huidvochtigheidsmetingen. Deze metingen helpen ons subtiele, automatische emotionele reacties vast te leggen. We noteerden ook het alcoholgehalte, omdat dat deze lichamelijke reacties kan beïnvloeden.

Uiteindelijk is ons doel om de reacties van beide groepen te vergelijken om te achterhalen of overtuigingen over de oorsprong van de muziek de emotionele ervaring van mensen beïnvloeden.
